First Flight – New Entrant and Year 1
Mrs Absalom, Mrs Kendrick, Mrs Anthony, Mrs Bishop & Mrs Mellor
HERON | Maddison Clements | You are a role model for other children always managing yourself with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You take pride in your work and strive to do well, setting yourself big goals and taking every opportunity to learn and grow. You have excelled in your learning this year and stand proud in your achievements. |
KEA | Trinity Faaiuaso | You have an inquisitive nature, you are observant of the world around you and often uses information from around the classroom to aid you in your work. You are eager to learn. You always sit at the front of the mat ready for learning, putting up your hand or sharing your thinking with a buddy at every opportunity. |
ALBATROSS | Nikau Hudson | You are self-motivated and keen to grow in your knowledge and skills. Your competitive spirit drives you to take on new challenges and persist in your learning until you have accomplished success. You take initiative to seek me out to share your new learning at every opportunity, with a keen desire to move onto the next step in learning. |
KERERU | Daniel Kelp | You have shown your Kereru caring heart every day since you started at Welcome Bay School. You always offer to be a friend and helper to those who need support and we are very proud of the way that you have looked after the new children in Toetoe. You are a great role model for all children in this area. Ka Pai! |

KEA | Troy Peterson | Your cheeky smile accompanies well thought out questions which help you search out further information and develop your understanding. You give detailed explanations of how you solve challenges in math and literacy and we love seeing those “ah ha” moments when you rethink your explanation and solution on the fly. |
ALBATROSS | Tipene Kopae | The terrific shift in your attitude has seen you push yourself and make lovely progress in your learning. We love seeing you approach every activity and challenge with a smile and hearing you say things like “I can do this!” We can’t wait to see you fly in 2017. |
KERERU | Sina Nimo | You are a selfless and thoughtful young lady who freely gives of your own time to help others and keep our Hub looking fabulous. Your patience and gentle nature make you a true Kereru in every way. Mia manawanui Sina!. |
FALCON | Ethan Wong | Since your first day at Welcome Bay School you have proven yourself to be a brave focussed learner. KEA | Kadie Davis | This term we have noticed a big switch in your attitude and self belief. You often contribute to discussions by offering your valued ideas and thoughts. You were especially engaged with your Inquiry, seeking answers to your questions and speaking clearly and purposefully throughout your presentation. It is great to hear your voice Kadie, let your learning lion continue to roar loudly! |
ALBATROSS | Elite Moana | For soaring high and far in your learning this term. You readily accept challenges and strive to achieve your goals with a determined, focussed attitude. With your hardworking and positive nature you have become resilient, working through your learning challenges with your big Welcome Bay smile. |
KERERU | Aylah Davies | You are a Kereru in the way you interact with others. Without hesitation you will always lend a hand to anyone in need. Whether it is helping someone to finish their work, tidying up without being asked or simply letting others catch your ever present smile, Welcome Bay thanks you for being so caring and considerate. |
FALCON | Zephaniah Gentry | Audacious! Daring! Fearless! Resolute and strong! Look up the meaning of these synonyms for courage in a dictionary and you will find Zephaniah. This courageous Welcome Bay Learner eats resilience for breakfast, determination for lunch and success for dinner. Your attitude to better yourself at school is commendable Zeph, we salute you! |
