Community Notices 15/12/16

PTA 2016

Thanks to all of our school community who have supported our fundraising events in 2016.  Through fundraising the PTA have raised approximately $7,000 this year.

These funds have enabled us to make a total of $6,730.00 of donations to the school this year for the following:

Hub Donations 2016  $4,000.00 (used by teachers to subsidise transport costs etc for trips)

Hub 1 Sand/Water Toys  $1000.00

Garden improvements  $630.00

Table Tennis Tables  $600.00

School Guitar  $500.00

We have also invested in a large 45m x 5m waterslide enjoyed by the children (and some adults) at the PTA Fun Friday last week which we intend to utilise for fundraising events in 2017.

As well as the hard work of our committee of seven we would not be able to raise these funds without the support of businesses, we would particularly like to acknowledge the support of the following businesses:

Coupland’s Bakery, Gate Pa – who cook and box our pies for Pie Day Friday

Arbor Reman Limited – who donate 30 cubic metres of firewood for us to sell each year

Raymond Transport Limited – for delivering the container of firewood

MSL Builders Limited – for lending us their tip truck to help with firewood deliveries

Hellers Sausages in Schools – who donated 960 sausages at no cost

The Warehouse, Tauranga Crossing – who provided the noodles for our slide at cost

Tarpaulin Makers, Mt Maunganui – who gave a generous discount on the manufacture of our slide

We are always in need of extra help so if you or a business you are involved in could help us with fundraising in 2017 please let us know welcomebaypta@gmail.com

Read books, win prizes!  Tauranga City Libraries are running a free, fun summer reading programme called “Sail into Summer Reading”.  Children aged 5 to 10 years read library books, tell library staff about their reading and receive incentive prizes and stickers.  It’s a great way to encourage reading over summer (and helps keep up reading levels).

For kids starting Intermediate in 2017 there is Teen Mean Reads, where young people read and write reviews of library books and earn free books to keep. Enrolment for both programmes

starts Friday 9th December at all Tauranga City Libraries.  Numbers are limited.  Phone 577 7220 for information.
